Work Force Development

The voluntary sector in West Dunbartonshire relies on its workforce – both unpaid and paid.We are committed to helping make sure that local voluntary and community organisations are:

• Good places to work

• Good employers

• Are able to recruit and retain a skilled workforce

To deliver this we will ensure that voluntary and community organisations in West Dunbartonshire have easy access to information and resources that support learning and development, and good management and employment practices.
In addition to the range of support services accessible through this sub-section shown, we will also:

• Develop the website to include resources, information, toolkits and good practice information

• Promoting the sector to people at various points on their career paths

• Work with careers and employment services to promote the opportunities available in the sector, now and in the future

• Ensure that those working in the sector have access to more opportunities for learning

• Help develop networks and tools to support the sharing of skills and expertise for the benefit of the community

ACAS: Since issuing a draft of its revised code of practice on discipline and grievance for formal consultation, Acas has been working on more detailed non-statutory guidance on handling discipline and grievances in the workplace this includes voluntary organisations with employees. The guidance, which is designed to support the code, is now available. More
