In The Netherlands the national programme consists of a range of activities. The Association of Netherlands Municipalities (VNG) is preparing an EYV promotional tour for municipalities. The tour will begin in January at the Binnenhof in The Hague. In early March the TROS television company will broadcast a series of programmes on volunteer organisations, resulting in a recruitment campaign featuring the website Vrijwilligerswerk.nl (Voluntarywork.nl).

They will also participate in our viral campaign with some well known Dutch people. Social media will also play a role with the use of the LinkedIn service and a plan to use the hashtag ‘#vrijwilligerswerk (translated as voluntary work) on Twitter, alongside general tweets on EYV2011 with the code #EJV2011.

Municipalities will be supported to enable them to each present four awards between 1 February and 1 July:

The Passion Award (for the individual or organisation that most puts their heart and soul into their volunteer work)

The Innovation Award (for the most innovative individual or organisation)

The Engagement Award (for the individual or organisation that achieves the best results in getting people engaged with each other)

The Competence Award (for the individual or organisation that does the most in terms of talent development).

Participants will also be able to compete for national and regional prizes. September sees the national Week of Applause for the
volunteers, especially in the cultural and sport sectors,
through a series of events on television.
