Groups hit by Gift Aid cut: Charities in Scotland face losing millions of pounds because of changes in this week's Budget. Under the gift aid system registered charities can claim back income tax a donor has paid on the amount they contribute, so when Gordon Brown announced on Wednesday that he was cutting income tax by 2 per cent, the upshot for charitable organisations was a drop in the amount they will receive. It is reckoned charities across the UK will lose out by £71 million. If you are a charity, receive donations from the public and have not yet considered gift aid as a way of securing income, contact Selina on 0141 941 0886.
