Footcare

Taking care of your feet is an important step in keeping healthy, active and reducing your risk of fallingIf you have difficulty caring for your feet we can help with our basic foot care service.

Basic Footcare includes:

  • Toenail Clipping
  • Hard Skin Removal
  • Advice on caring for your feet

Toe-to-Toe Footcare is delivered by trained volunteers who have given their time to run the service. To ensure we can continue to deliver this service we ask that you give a small donation (suggested £10) to help cover the costs of materials, equipment, training, heat & light.

Appointments

Open to anyone from West Dunbartonshire area who struggles to care for their own feet. Appointments last 30 minutes and are available on a Tuesday or a Friday morning.

FAQ 

I have Diabetes, can I use the Footcare service?

Yes, we can usually provide our basic foot care service – toenail trimming and hard skin removal. If you have more complex issues with your feet we may refer you onto Podiatry for further treatment.

Is footcare just for those aged over 65?

No, Toe-to-Toe Footcare is available to anybody living in the West Dunbartonshire area who has difficulty caring for their own feet.

Can you come out to my home?

Unfortunately, we can’t offer home visits for the Footcare service.

Do I need to bring anything with me to my appointment?

During your first appointment, you will be given a free set of toe clippers to take home with you. We ask that you bring these with you to any future appointments.

Replacement Clippers can be purchased during appointments at a cost of £5.

How often should I attend Footcare?

We recommend booking your appointments between 8-12 weeks apart.

I have corns, can you treat these?

No, we can only provide a basic foot care service – toenail trimming and hard skin removal. If you have more complex issues with your feet we can refer you onto Podiatry or a Private Podiatrist for further treatment.
