Impact and Outcome Assessments
One of the biggest challenges we have in the third sector is blowing our own trumpet! Too often we are so focussed on getting the job done we don’t take the time to reflect on the impact and outcomes of our work. Organisations across the sector could benefit from taking the time to do this and we have a range of services which can help.
Q: How would we start to measure our impact?
We can help you to measure your impact in a number of ways – depending on the size of the organisation. Our first step would be to help you to identify the impacts you feel your work is/could be having and help you to shape the way in which you collect data so that it is meaningful to help measure against this. We want to raise the profile of the sector as much as we can so we provide initial free support to help you with this.
Q: What kind of impact assessments can you do?
Our staff are experienced in a range of assessment tools across volunteer, health, social, economic and environmental impact assessment. We can use established tools or can blend some approaches together into a package that meets your needs. This is a chargeable service but we can help you to secure funding for this.
Q: Can you help us with outcomes?
Having an outcomes focus is really important and our staff team are happy to help you to think through and develop your outcome measurements. From general awareness training, determining outcomes for funding application, through to logic modelling, we have a range of training and support options that could help. Call or email us to find out more.
Q: What is Social Return on Investment?
Social Return on Investment is an approach to understanding and managing the impacts of a project, business, organisation, fund or policy. It accounts for stakeholders’ views of impact, and puts financial ‘proxy’ values on all those impacts identified by stakeholders which do not typically have market values. WDCVS conducts a number of SROI assessments on our own projects each year and we are happy to help other organisations interested in this approach.
