European Year of Volunteering: A new campaign asking the population of Scotland to embark on a volunteering journey in 2011 as part of their New Year’s resolution has been launched in awareness of the European Year of Volunteering 2011. The campaign launched at Edinburgh Waverly Station by Alyn Smith Scottish MEP and Neil Mitchison, European Commission Representative for Scotland aims to highlight the key benefits to individuals interested in volunteering and hopes to encourage more people in Scotland to volunteer within their community with the hope to see an 11% increase throughout the country this year. We're here to help match organisations looking for volunteers with people seeking volunteer opportunities with voluntary organisations across the length and breadth of Scotland and beyond.

For Organisations: if you are a voluntary organisations you can register your volunteer opportunities on the Centre's database free of charge. Current listings are also posted on the Volunteer Centre Networks’ website and highlighted to registered volunteers who have identified specific areas of volunteering that they are interested in.

For Individuals: if you are interested in volunteering you can meet with one of our volunteer advisers who will discuss available volunteer positions matching your personal skills and interests.

We also promote other targeted support such as youth volunteering by offering opportunities to gain an Millennium Volunteer Award for those aged 16-25 and for those aged 12-16 recognition via "YOUVOL!" award, a Befriending Service for older people living in West Dunbartonshire and a Supported Volunteering programme VC Involve.
