Opportunity: Driver & Helper

About the Organisation:
To help people maintain independence in their own homes and in the
community.Particularly those in later life but also younger people
who are housebound.
Opportunity Description: If you are over 16, kind, caring, patient and want to learn new
skills then you are exactly who we are looking for. In return for
your minimum commitment of two hours a month we can offer you food
hygiene training, H & S training, confidence building and working
with a friendly team.
Where: You can
be collected from home by council drivers and taken to Carleith
Primary in Duntocher to collect meals and taken home again once
the meals are delivered.
Restrictions:
Over 16
Expenses: Public
transport travel expenses are paid. Car mileage 35p per mile.

is a work placement for somebody interested in getting into Youth
Work.
Where: Carman
Centre, Renton.
Skills: An ability
to work with and get on with young people.

Opportunity: VC Befriend

West Dunbartonshire CVS
About the
Organisation: Our core purpose as a conjoined CVS and Volunteer
Centre is to represent, advise, support and develop all levels of
voluntary and community activity across West Dunbartonshire.
Opportunity Description:
Our befriending service seeks to provide befriending to isolated
older people across West Dunbartonshire and will be open to those
over 60 who are socially isolated. The project is open to those
living in their own home, sheltered accomodation or other community
settings.
Our Befrienders: Our volunteers
trained to provide social support and companionship within the boundaries
of a befriending relationship. Befrienders may be involved in home
visits or helping individuals to participate in social activities.
Our Role: Befriending staff meet
with potential volunteers to establish what they hope to gain from
the project. After an induction, a training course, carrying out
disclosure and reference checks we will carefully match people according
to various factors, these include volunteers interests, hobbies
and personality. We will also provide ongoing support for the duration
of the befrienders involvement with the project.
Where: Volunteer
is expected to be out and about in the community, participating
in activities such as going for a coffee, going to the cinema and
shared interests.
Skills: Good
listening skills, ability to relate to older people and shared interests
Restrictions:
Over 18
Expenses: Out
of pocket expenses, as and when required.
