Youth Volunteering

Saltire Awards
Saltire Awards recognise the commitment and contribution of youth volunteering (12-25 years old). Supported by the Scottish Government, Saltire Awards record the skills, experience and learning gained through successful volunteering placements in school or provided by local and national voluntary agencies.

There are four types of Awards available.

  • The Challenge recognises one – off event events and is an ideal introduction to Volunteering.
  • The Approach recognises placements of 10 or 25 hours.
  • The Ascent recognises sustained volunteering with certificates  available for 50, 100, 200 and 500 hours.
  • The Summit Award is given for outstanding contribution to volunteering nominated by either a local support worker, teacher, organisation or friend.

Q: How can I register?
You can register online through the national website (can you insert the link) and your details will come through to us.  Alternatively you can register through your organisation or school or if you prefer just give us a call and we can register you.

Q: Can I only register if I am already volunteering?
No, you can register before and we will collect your hours once you have started.

Q: Can I get involved in promoting the Saltire Awards?
Yes, we welcome all help in this. One way to get involved is to become a Saltire Ambassador. This group help us to raise awareness of the awards. Saltire Ambassadors have usually completed 200 hours of volunteering, but some have just shown an incredible commitment and drive.  Please contact us if you want to know more.
